Princess Becca and her glorious BREATHS!

Oh boy, there is just never a dull moment around our house, you realize this, right? Well, Rebecca is showing more and more, signs of having asthma. She had an all out "asthma attack" on Saturday. Now mind you, we know this is no laughing matter. Hearing your little girl gasping for breath is not easy to listen to. The thing is, we are new to this and honestly, we thought she might be coming down with something. WRONG..........let me explain.

Friday morning, Rebecca is chasing Matthew, Matthew is chasing Rebecca, dad takes them to daycare, NOTHING WRONG you say? You'd be right! Friday evening, dad picks them up and Rebecca comes home with a cough that is dry and raspy. Weird sounding. We being her parents thought she was coming down with something, like what has been happening for the last 2 years. Apparently, wrong.

Saturday morning, we gave her a treatment of albuterol (via the nebulizer) and 2 hours later, another one. She started breathing better. Her cough had diminished. We ended up going over a friends house for a little party/get together. Well, we ended up having to leave earlier than we wanted to because Rebecca ended up having an attack after reaching for a toy under a bed. What triggered it or why? We have no clue!!! NONE whatsoever. (if you have any ideas, please email us!!!) So we ended up hightailing it home to give her another treatment.

FAST FORWARD to Monday night........since Saturday night, she's had this cough still, but much improved, mind you. We told her pediatrician what had been going on over the weekend and they wanted to see her RIGHT AWAY! Good thing......he airway was "coarse" and so was her breathing. She now has inhalers to take with her. When she turns 4, she will have more stuff to do and in the mean time, we have to get her to an allergist! (preferably one in our own county) OH BOY!!!!!!! :o)

I wonder if she will grow out of this? Reading on the internet is so confusing some pages say she might, some say you never do, you just "control" it. Who knows except God! Say a prayer for our Becca, if you will.............thanks.

Sarah is on flovent as a preventative and it has worked wonders. Your asthma/allergy dr should be able to help you get a hold on it. We love ours (with 2 asthmatics in the house we know him well).

Melissa,
Rebecca is on albuterol but when she turns 4, (September) they want to put her on Xopenex HFA. We should know more when she goes to the allergy specialist! I can't wait to see what she is actually allergic to. So far, we know about the milk and red dye. Anything else? Who knows....... (please not the cats!! Please)

If your friends' house is anything like ours, there's dust under the beds. Maybe she's allergic to dust.

Hello JB! Thanks, you know, yes, under the beds, with hw floors, you might be right!! I have to admit, our home doesn't have hw floors and I constantly vacuum every single weekend, if not, just about every 3 days. (Because of our cats.) So, yeah, we've gone through 2 vacuums already since being married (9 years).

July 2nd we will see just what our princess is allergic to and how we need to "change" things to avoid them. Should be interesting!
